SCOTCHCOULTHARD FARM AND SELF-CATERING HOLIDAY COTTAGES.

Scotchcoulthard Farm and Self-Catering Holiday Cottages are situated four miles north of Hadrian's Wall in The Northumberland National Park at its most spectacular part. It is necessary to cross it to reach us and the sites of Housesteads, Vindolanda and The Roman Army Museum are only a short distance away.

We are just off Route 68 of The North Penine Cycle Route. Bikes can be hired locally or we have an outside shed for those bringing their own.

Naturally we have plenty of wildlife. Red squirrels live in the surrounding forest along with badgers, deer, buzzards, adders and many others.

We have traditional hay meadows which are not cut until late July allowing many wild flowers to be seen and ground nesting birds.

You are free to roam at will on our land and also on the surrounding land. Which comprises of forest and common land.

At night there is little or no light pollution so on a clear night the view of the sky is fantastic.

There is an indoor heated swimming pool measuring 12m x 5m at a depth of 1.2m (4 foot). It is ideal for children to play in or for not so confident swimmers as well as those who will whizz up and down!

The table tennis table is in the games room along with a 3/4 size snooker table and a dart board. The snooker table is for adults or children accompanied by an adult.

There is a carpeted area ideal for children with a  small selction of toys, books and jigsaws.

As we are situated within our own land it is ideal for children to bring a tent and camp out. The older they are the further from the cottages they can venture. Please ask if you would like this opportunity.

We are also happy for guests to bring a tent for camping or for overspills from the cottages!
