The Cottages
Hope Sike
The view from the back of Hope Sike.
Many of our visitors like to bring their parents on holiday with them.
However, sometimes a little extra privacy or quiet is required. With this in mind ‘Hope Sike’ was created to provide a refuge. It has been described as a “little gem”.
From the small entrance hall one enters the living area with stone flagged floor covered with rugs. This room rises high into the pitch and has roof lights and window catching the early morning sun.
There is a Victorian open fire rescued from the old farmhouse and bounded by cupboards. In a long recess there is the kitchen with twin sinks, double electric hob, a very sophisticated microwave cum oven cum grill that tells you how to operate it, and a built in fridge with three star freezer compartment. It is fully centrally heated.
A large sofa faces the fire with a single chair next to it. the telivision is hidden inside a cupboard with a digital box and dvd player. There are French doors leading out to a seating area with incredible views across miles of open countryside. Tables and chairs are provided in the Summer.
The bedroom has a kingsize bed, which may be split into two narrow singles, and an en suite bathroom with double ended bath.
There is a thought that ‘Hope Sike’ would also appeal to young teenagers who need a little independence whilst their family occupy another cottage. From its original concept, Hope Sike has developed into an independent dwelling for two with features that are somewhat different to the other cottages but which seems to have found approval.
